Features/challenges: Bolivia Special: (Range Rover • Toyota Land Cruiser • Suzuki Jimny)

Original air date: December 27, 2009

In an attempt to see which is the best 4×4 off-road vehicle in the world, the presenters take themselves on a journey across 1,000 miles (1,600 km), from the rainforests of Bolivia to the Pacific coast of Chile, with each buying a second-hand 4×4 off-roader from the Bolivian classifieds, within a budget of £3,500 – Clarkson thinks it is the Range Rover he bought that has the engine he did not expect it had, May feels the Suzuki Jimny he purchased is the one despite being in red and not blue, and Hammond believes it is the Toyota Land Cruiser he found despite the amateur attempt by someone to make it a convertible. On their journey, the trio face deadly insects and tough rainforest undergrowth, make a tricky crossing over a gully and a river, the most dangerous road in the world, the El Camino de la Muerte (Death Road), climb up into freezing, thin altitudes, and make a descent down a steep sand dune towards their final destination.

  1. tried to take survey…you forgot one selection out of that page of them
    and that would be
    NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!!!
in case you actually are interested in what I want to watch : rockford files among others….
I found all of those programs that were offered extremely tedious…and is actually the reason we got rid of the TV in the first place…boring crap on tv…HOUSE OF THRONES???? spare me please! miniminds watch this and then voted for trump
however I do really enjoy the old top gear stuff
    and thanks for that!

    1. Hey Bill, we’ve actually got a team member who’s a big fan of James Garner. He likes The Great Escape from that era better, but he’s keen on getting The Rockford Files up too. Issue is, we’re having to prioritize what to upload due to limited and expensive resources to make the site available. To be able to afford the more esoteric (and we think often subjectively better) shows, we’d need to grow. So we’re going by what’s most popular for the moment. Thanks for the kind words, we’ve got your suggestion queued and short listed.

  2. well you have got to have biz plan thats for sure…
the early fifties sherlock holmes featuring ronald howard and howard marion crawford
[ holmes and watson respectively] has merit as well
might even be free from an archive at a california university…
and thankyou for the prompt reply…
    ps
I trust the recent spate of unsolicited emails I have had over the last week are not your fault?
    the server attack??
